title: "Activating the TikTok Pixel"
---

Its main function is to track the actions of users who visit your page and how they interact with it. This pixel helps collect data to optimize and create more effective ads on TikTok, as well as measure the performance of your advertising campaigns.

## Steps to set up the pixel

To connect the TikTok pixel to your Bolder site you need the following information:

1. The first step is to get the TikTok Pixel number or ID.

From your TikTok Ads Manager account > go to the "Assets" section in the left side menu > Click "Event" and then select "Website Pixel". If you don't have a pixel yet, you will see a button that says "Create Pixel".

The Pixel ID usually looks like an alphanumeric series. It looks something like this: `ABCDE12345EGF67890XS`

2. From your Bolder store, in the admin panel > go to the [Apps and integrations](https://panel.onbolder.com/admin/addons) section.

Here look for the [TikTok Pixel](https://panel.onbolder.com/admin/addons/tiktok_pixel) integration.

Copy the ID you got in step 1 and paste it to activate the pixel.

## Measurement events

**1\. PageView: Visit any page of the store**

Tracks that someone is interacting with your store, visiting the different sections of your page.

**2\. Search: When using the search box**

This event is triggered when a user uses the search box in your store to find specific products. It is useful to know what kinds of products users are looking for, which can help you optimize your product offer and marketing by adapting to popular searches.

**3\. ViewContent: View of a product (detail)**

This event helps you learn which products are generating interest, since it shows that the user not only visited the store but is interested in a particular product. It measures clicks on the product and its associated information

**4\. AddToCart: Add a product to the cart**

Helps measure conversion in your store, providing data on purchase intent. It is also useful for abandoned cart strategies.

**5\. InitCheckout: When starting the purchase**

This event is triggered when the user starts the payment process in the checkout.

It also lets you track the conversion rate and abandoned carts.

## TikTok Pixel and Google Tag Manager

If you currently use Google Tag Manager to measure events, we recommend not creating triggers or events that already exist (listed in the previous section). If you do, TikTok might receive duplicate data.

For custom events different from the ones Bolder currently sends to TikTok, we suggest setting up measurement events through Google Tag Manager.
