Gift Cards are a great addition to your product catalog. They let your customer buy on your site, while the recipient is free to choose whatever they like best.



## Creating a gift card in your catalog

In the admin panel, go to Products and open the actions button. There you will find the option to create a new gift card.

After you press the button, the section to set it up will open. It works the same way as setting up any other product in your store, except that you must add the value the purchased gift card can be redeemed for.

Once it is created, you can add more information or edit it as needed.



## Gift Cards in your store

In the catalog it will appear like your other products, and you can organize it in collections or by the new product type assigned to it (Gift Cards).

On the product page it will look like this:

Depending on your store's setup, the purchase details can be entered on the product page or in a modal.

In this view, whoever buys the Gift Card must enter the recipient's name and email (the person who will receive the redemption details), as well as an optional message to go with the gift.

In the cart, as well as at checkout, the customer can check that the recipient you entered is the right one:

-   **Recipient's name:** The name of the person who will receive the gift card. In the example, the name "Amigo" was used.
-   **Recipient's email:** Make sure you type the recipient's email correctly, otherwise they will not receive the discount code.
-   **Optional message:** Add a short text to go in the email the recipient will receive.

Once you fill in the fields and continue to checkout, you will see that this type of purchase has no shipping or in-store pickup available.

Only if you have more products in the cart will you see those options, but a gift card purchase will never have them, since it is a digital gift card.

For now, only one gift card per order can be purchased.



## Gift Card for the recipient

##### What information does the recipient get, and how can they redeem the Gift Card?

Once the Gift Card purchase is made, the recipient will receive an email with instructions to redeem it:

-   The store where the gift card was bought is called "Tienda Test"; in your case, your store's name will appear.
-   Remember that "Amigo" is the recipient's name.
-   "Cliente" is the name of the person who bought the gift card at Tienda Test.



### Using the gift card

The gift card recipient will receive a unique discount code.

Note that redeeming the value on the Gift Card **can only be done once**, and it works as a discount **on the total value of the products**, but it does not apply to shipping costs.

-   If the purchase is equal to or greater than the Gift Card amount, it will be discounted in full, leaving only the remaining amount plus shipping costs in the subtotal breakdown.

-   If the cart value is lower than the Gift Card amount, the full order will be discounted and **the remaining balance cannot be used on a new purchase**.
