title: "Memberships"
---

A membership is an affiliation model in which a customer can access certain benefits, from a one-time or recurring purchase.

Unlike a one-off purchase or a product subscription, a membership does not necessarily involve shipping physical goods. It focuses on providing added value during the period set for the benefit, which could be a discount plan, services, or special content.

## Before you activate it

- To use this feature you must have the Standard Plan or the Pro Plan. *You can contact our team to check your plan or change it.*
- To enjoy the benefits of membership plans, you need the Webpay OneClick (PST) payment method, a payment gateway designed to make recurring payments easier to manage. (This service must be contracted directly with Transbank. [See here](/en/cart-checkout/habilitar-webpay-oneclick-como-medio-de-pago) how to activate it in your Bolder store).

Webpay OneClick offers a fast and secure payment system, which ensures a smooth, uninterrupted shopping experience for you and your customers.

## Activation and initial setup

To activate this feature:

1. Go to the Bolder admin panel.
2. Go to the *Addons and Integrations* section, in the Recurring Revenue category, and activate **Membership Plans.**

    ![](/media/470-2.webp)

    ![](/media/470-3.webp)

3. Once active, a new entry will be added to your side menu: *Plans*

If you only activate Membership plans, you will see *Plans*

If you also have Subscribable Products, you will see Subscriptions and plans

## First steps

From the admin panel, go to the Plans section.

On the right side, you will find the Actions button > Here you must select "New membership plan".

![](/media/470-4.webp)

When you click it, it will take you to a view similar to creating a new product, where you must complete the basic information of the subscription and, below it, the configuration of the plan itself.

- **Name or model:** Name of the membership plan
- **Product type**: Default
- **Brand:** Not applicable
- **Description:** Description and key information about what this membership plan offers
- **Attributes:** Specific or additional characteristics of the product

    ![](/media/470-5.webp)

- **Membership options and costs:** Here you define the amounts and billing intervals under which you want to offer this subscription. Changes you make here apply only to new subscriptions. To change the behavior of an active (already created) subscription, you must do it from the subscriptions menu.
    - **Payment interval**: Defines how often the membership is charged (periods in weeks, months or years).
    - **Billing day**: The day the customer will be charged, based on the selected payment interval.
    - **Initial cost**: Price that will be charged to the customer at first, when they buy the membership plan.
    - **Renewal cost:** Price that will be charged each time the membership renews automatically.
    - **Number of charges:** Number of payments the customer must make during the membership term, based on the payment interval.
    - **Charge renewal starting from:** Indicates when the renewal should start being charged, whether immediately after the first cycle or from the second cycle.
    - **Add other payment intervals:** Lets you offer additional payment frequency options to fit the customer's needs.

**A single membership can offer multiple payment intervals.**

Once you complete the information and create the new plan, you can upload a main image.

## Public view of the membership

From the customer's perspective, getting a membership is very similar to buying any other product. The customer can see the membership information and choose the plan option and/or billing format they find most attractive.

All the memberships you have created that are visible will be available at `/plans` , and how they are laid out depends on how you set up the view.

Once the product is added to the cart, the customer will see the chosen format.

Depending on the cart version in your Bolder store, the customer may also see the renewal cost and its billing format.

When starting the checkout process to buy the membership, no address or pickup location will be requested, so there are no associated shipping costs either.

To buy a membership, **the only payment option enabled is Webpay OneClick,** even if you have other payment methods. As mentioned at the beginning, this is because this method allows *tokenizing* the customer's card, that is, it securely stores the card data so future payments associated with the subscription can be processed automatically.

Once the purchase is completed and the order confirmed, the system activates the membership immediately and the customer will receive an email confirmation with all the details.

## Setting up the membership plans view

From the panel > Design > Customize current design, you will enter the Bolder design editor.

IMPORTANT: all the changes you make here will be reflected automatically in the public view, so work with caution.

In the design editor, in the sections tab, select *Plans*.

Once you enter the plans view > Select Options > The settings for the membership plans views on the site will open.

There are two layout options: Columns and rows.

**Set up memberships in rows:**

At the top is the subscription id, along with its status.

Membership plans can have different statuses depending on their financial status or purchase cycle.

- **Active:** The membership is in force and running. The customer has full access to all the benefits and services included in their plan, and payments are up to date.
- **Paused:** The membership has been temporarily suspended, either at the customer's request or due to a special condition. During this period, no charges are made and access to services is limited. It can be resumed as established or directly by the site administrator.
- **Past due:** The system has detected that the last payment was not made on the corresponding date. Although the membership remains active temporarily, it is important to settle the payment to avoid restrictions or a change of status to "Disabled".
- **Disabled for non-payment:** The membership has been suspended due to lack of payment. To reach this status, all 3 charge attempts by Transbank must have failed (day 0, day 5, day 10).
- **Ended:** The membership has completed all its charges, so there are no more renewals. In this status, the customer no longer has access to the plan's benefits. It can be reactivated by purchasing a new period.
- **Canceled:** The membership was canceled before its end date, either at the user's request or by an administrative action. This status is final and does not allow automatic reactivation.

**In the membership details you will find:**

- Customer: name and direct link to their profile
- Product: Membership plan purchased
- Creation date: Date the membership was purchased or assigned for free
- Original order: code of the order in which the initial purchase was made.
- Next payment: Membership renewal date.
- Billing information: Initial cost of the membership plan and renewal cost for future cycles.

**Activity:**

Here you can see the history of events associated with the membership, billing processes, notifications sent, status changes made, among others.

**Tags:**

To better manage and organize the membership plans sold, you can add tags. They will help you filter in the general orders view.

**Offering membership plans in your ecommerce not only builds loyalty with your customers, it also increases the value of each purchase, generating recurring and sustainable revenue. It is a powerful strategy to scale your business and keep your best customers close.**
