General recommendations for the information in your Bolder store
Having clear and accurate information in your ecommerce store is essential for a functional, successful and quick purchase process for your customers, but it is also an obligation, as established by the Chilean ELECTRONIC COMMERCE REGULATION.
Depending on your line of business, your store must meet different general regulations. If you need any additional implementation in your store, you can contact the support team so they can help or guide you.
Basic general recommendations
Terms and Conditions of browsing and purchasing
Terms and conditions are the set of legal rules defined by the owner of an ecommerce store, which govern the activities of the visitors and users of the web store, setting out the relevant terms both parties commit to when browsing or using the services of that store.
Depending on the nature of the service provided, terms and conditions may vary, but it is always advisable to include details on the following items:
- General provisions and acceptance of the terms.
- The user’s purchase process.
- Instructions on how to buy on the site.
- Shipping and delivery of products.
- Enabled payment methods.
- User rights and warranties.
- Right of withdrawal.
- Confidentiality and personal data.
- Data and information security.
- Transparency of information.
- Exchange and return policy.
- Stock policy.
- Electronic communications.
- Intellectual property.
- Contact details for users to reach the store.
- Availability of the service and changes to the terms.
Information about products and/or services
When you make a product or service available in your store, it is important to clearly and unambiguously report/publish the relevant details:
Product features
- The features of the product or service offered according to its nature and purpose, basic functions, capabilities and performance.
- Identification of the brand.
- Identification of the manufacturer.
- Year of manufacture, if relevant.
- Availability of the product or service offered and the conditions, requirements or limitations of use or contracting, where applicable.
- Safety and health information.
- Age restrictions and contraindications, if applicable.
- Any other relevant condition, feature or benefit of the product or service that consumers should know about.
Actual price of the product and/or service
- The currency in which products or services will be sold must be explicitly stated. If they are offered internationally, you must be able to show the price in the currency of the relevant country.
- Report all taxes or associated costs that the product has or may incur during the purchase process.
- If a consumer wants to buy a good or service that was shown on a website at a certain price, that price must be the same when the purchase is completed, unless it is a lower price.
Sale prices of the product and/or service
- If you run sales on goods and/or services offered during a promotion or campaign, you must report their duration and general conditions and also report the available stock. If you take part in mass events (such as cyber sales), this is a fundamental part of the Code of Good Practices of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce.
- For an offer of services, you must report in advance and truthfully, at a minimum, what the service consists of, which costs the service includes and which it does not, the duration of the service, among other things relevant to the consumer so they can make the best purchasing decision.
