Product setup: Physical products and Intangible products

An e-commerce store can include both physical and intangible products in its catalog. Each one requires a different setup, depending on how it is managed and on your business needs.

Physical product

A physical product is any tangible good that requires logistics to reach the end customer. This involves not only preparing and shipping it, but also controlling stock and defining shipping or pickup methods.

With this type of product, the experience doesn’t end at payment but at correct delivery, so its setup directly affects your operation and customer satisfaction.

Intangible product

An intangible product has no physical form and therefore doesn’t require shipping or logistics processes. It is usually a service or a digital product that is activated once the purchase is completed.

With this type of product, the experience centers on clear and direct access, where the customer can use or activate the service right away or under the conditions you define.

How do I set the product type?

When you create a product, you can define whether it is a physical or an intangible product, depending on how it is managed in your operation.

You can also change this setting at any time for products that are already created, letting you adjust your catalog as you need.
